MEMBRANE AND FILTER CHARACTERISATION TECHNIQUES AVAILABLE FROM POROMETER

CAPILLARY FLOW POROMETRY
The principle of measurement is the displacement of a wetting liquid from the pores of the samples by applying gas pressure. Our instruments are widely used to measure porosity, minimum, maximum (or first bubble point) and mean flow pore sizes, and pore size distribution of through pores in membranes, nonwovens, papers, filtration and ultra filtration media, hollow fibres and ceramics with improved accuracy and reproducibility compared to other equipment in the market.

POROLUX™ 100
Gas/liquid porometry based on pressure scan: a single valve is opened during a measurement and the pressure and the resulting gas flow are measured continuously.

  • Pore size range 90nm-500µm.
  • Calculated first bubble point.
  • Gas and liquid permeability.
  • For both flat sheet and hollow fibre membranes.
  • Fast and very reproducible results, very suited for QC type of work and for samples where all pores are identical.

POROLUX™ 1000
Gas/liquid porometry based on pressure/step stability: the porometer detects when a pore empties at a certain pressure and waits until all pores of the same diameter have been completely emptied before accepting a data point. Specially indicated for samples with a complex pore structure.

  • Pore size range 18nm-500µm.
  • Measured or “true” first bubble point.
  • Calculated bubble point.
  • Gas and liquid permeability.
  • For both flat sheet and hollow fibre membranes.
  • Optional extended temperature module for measuring samples within a temperature range from room temperature to 150 °C.
  • Option for compression porometry for testing the pore structure under compressive strength (applicable force range 0.05 to 5000 N).
  • The most suitable instrument for research and development work.
